Covered by part p?

Hi,
I have a few things to do in the kitchen like move the light switch a couple of inches, replace all the plug sockets like for like and change the light fitting from a single fluorescent to a single pendant light. Is any of the work covered by part p?

Hi aj_sully,
Some stuff you can do and some you can't!
Replacing accessories, such as Socket-outlets, switches, ceiling rose and light fittings. is permitted.
You would not be allowed to ad or extend to the existing circiuts or install a new one.
If you intend to move the switch a couple of inches using the same circiut it will still come under minor work which would have to comply to part p.

Reading both your question and the document seems you are OK but why not read it only 46 pages and in layman's terms in the main.

yes part p(bit like corgi for gas) means only a sparky can add modify or extend a circuit. a sparky must do the work and self certify it him self and will usually tell u what work will be needed to bring it up to regs like earthing(bonding) your main fuse/circuit breakers etc a then the council get a copy so if u sell house u are upto date when hips come in dont cut costs its your life electric is dangerous
