We have just moved into a house and i have been looking at the electrics, and have found the Kichen sockets to be on there own ring which is ok, but the rest of the sockets ie the down stairs and upstairs are all on the same ring there is a total of twelve sockets is this ok or should they be on there own.
Thanks
Tony :D

Hi tonythetank

They are ok on same ring as long as the total floor area does not exceed 100 square metres and the total cable length is no more than about 84 metres

Hi tonythetank, as long the cable is 2.5 T+E protected by a 30amp fuse or 32amp MCB.
It is okay.

Basic answer is yes it's OK. House age is of course an issue my house 1979 only had one ring main. Now normal to have a ring on each floor. 100 sq meters floor area is the limit. I can't see there being any problem.
