Hi there, I'm looking to replace a wall light in my bedroom.

The one I've chosen from Ikea comes with a plug, with only live & netural wires. The old light fitting is wired into the wall with live, neutral & earth wires.

Is it possible to remove the plug from the new light and wire it directly into the wall?

It the light is double insulated it should have double square and the light does not require an earth but the earth behind the light may still need connecting to earth other lights in the house. But careful with Ikea as some lights need fusing to max 6 amp and some houses have bigger MCB's all to do with size of bulb holder.
