Hi hoping some one canhelp with this. I have a wall light on a loop with the ustairs ceiling lights. but at the moment i cannot get the lights to work properly, the original wiring was as follows.
2 red connected to the loop
2 black connected to the neutral
1 red connected to the live
1 earth
the new light has blue, brown and earth with two spare.
i have conected the two red loops in the spare connector
one black that was in the neutral in the connection to the brown
1 red that was in the live to the blue
and the two earths to each other.
leaving me one black not connected. i have tried swapping the blacks around buti cannot get the lights to work properly, sometimes doesn't work at all other times the switches for the other lights upstairs control the wall light but with the light dim.
any help would be appriciated

Hi sguiggs75,
2 reds connected in loop keep together.
2 blacks together (one of these is your switch wire and should have been tagged with red sleeve) on neutral side of light, that's the blue side of light.
Then the red to the brown side of lamp.
and all earths together in eatrh terminal.
and let there be light!

Thanks for the reply. wired up as suggested turns out there was an earth fault on the light.
