Hi,

I am qualified in 2360 1 & 2, 2381 and 2391. I have been off site for a couple but previously I did my apprentiship through a NIC company. I am seriously considering starting up on my own but am concerned how easy it is to do regarding how many jobs they need to see when I can not work as I am not registered. I would like to do domestic, commercial abd PIRs ect. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Andy ,
this is becoming a 'catch 22' situation where u can't work because not reg. but can't reg without work to show!...
as u appear to have enough paper quals. partp bodies only want to see one job but will look at test sheets u have for several recent jobs,
will want u to retest the job u show them to compare readings & prove u know how to test etc.
In addition u must have current copies of :
Reg, 16th latest ed.
On site guide
Guidance notes 1,3 & 7
Written policies for :
Risk assessments
Safety policy
Complaints register
Test equipment, with current cal. certs.
several other docs.
Best way is to contact somebody such as NAPIT NICEIC,who have packs to send out telling u their requirements.
As for work u can do quite a lot that is not covered by bldg. regs, they know of the prob. & will inspect
none domestic work for initial membership, then next visit when u have done some domestic work will look at htat then,
