hi fokes,
i know loads of people have been asking this kind of question but just wondered about the safety of my current setup. Here goes...
Have ring main downstairs protected by 32amp breaker- this feeds various sockets in kitchen and i know for a fact the number of spurs on this ring doesnt exceed the number of sockets. In kitchen i have a single socket below worktop which permanatley has washer plugged in- this socket is not a spur- coming off this socket is a fused spur (fitted with 13amp fuse) which then leaves the kitchen and has armoured cable buried under garden which leads to brick built outhouse approx 4 metres down garden. Once inside outhouse there is a junction box (cant remember exact rating but know at time of purchasing it was sufficient- possibly 30amp) This box feeds 2 double plug sockets in radial style and also feeds into another fused spur (with 3amp fuse fitted) which then feeds a bulkhead style light. Sockets in outhouse are mainly used for odd power tool/small bench grinder. Wondered if this sounded a decent setup or if i would be better buying a small consumer unit- the type with 2mcb's designed for sheds etc or wether this would make no sense because i already have consumer unit in house and its all protected by 13amp fused spur and 3amp fused spurs for lights in there??
The other thing i know from when i set it up 3 years ago is that i had someone check the armoured cable (an electrician) and he said it was rated at over 13amps).
