fitting sockets

hi everyone hope someone can answer my question i want to fit 3 new double sockets in my bedroom. at back of my bed i av a single socket which i will not b using will it b ok if i replace the single socket with a 13amp fcu then run 3 more spurs of that or am i thinking like an idiot ? thanx 4 any replys ps total run will b about 10 metres

Hi Bazza, you can only take one spur from a socket it's not good practice to spur from a spur ,ideally if the single socket is on the ring (two sets of cables in it ) then you could put the extra sockets in and keep them on the ring.Hope this is useful.

Hi Bazza, what you propose it perfectly OK., as the total load can only be 13A max due to fuse in FCU, no different to using a 6 way extension, just a better job!

As Sparx says nothing wrong with what you intend as you are using a fused spur unit only thing I look at is 10 meters which is a little on the long side and could result in too much volt drop I assume you intend to use 2.5mm cable. But this would depend on what the original earth loop impedance and volt drop is and in any case must be better that 1.5mm extension lead.
