EARTHING UPGRADING AND LEGAL REQUIREMENTS

by Retrovir » Mon Feb 18, 2008 3:39 pm

Do I legally have to have my earthing and bonding upgraded when I have a new consumer unit installed by an electrician, if I am happy with the existing 6mm

Hi,
Both the trade organisations we belong to [ECA/NAPIT] insist on it before doing board changes, we are also strongly advised to do a Periodic Inspection/test first to check for problems in existance already eg low IR's
which may cause RCD's to trip if none fitted previously otherwise customer might say we have created a fault, rather than finding one,
if you don't upgrade at a board change when will you?
regards SPARX
