so the antique style brass standard lamp my other half has had for a while recently stopped working and i decided to take it apart and figure out what the problem was... i think it was just loose wires but in the process i broke the plastic bit of the lamp holder and want to find a replacement and get some tips on fitting it properly...


any help on where i can find this part?
(i had no luck in b&q and cant seem to find it online)

and any tips on how to replace without going wrong, or links to web pages with a step by step guide!

I'd be looking for local electrical wholesalers to be helping you out, but I use the website TLC when looking for stuff like that, if i've failed to find it, usually pretty good!
As far as wiring up as long as non of the cables are damaged, straight forward. Connect Brown to one side of lampholder and the blue to the other. and any earths to earth terminals

Radio spares 293-5920 or S Lilley & Son 1413E is 10mm fitting there are also 1/2 inch fitting these are of course brass which you will need one to match lamp and two as you will need earth connection its called BC cap brass switched lampholder,M10 by radio spares and I am sure you can buy them anywhere that is a specialist in lamps. Radio Spares is also known as RS Components UK. There are also switched versions 7 different ones done by RS. The cheap plastic ones I have seen in local hardware store but hard to fit an earth wire to these.
