hi,
can a non maintained emergency light be converted into a maintained light to be switched on and off at will,

or will this break the gear in the non maintained

Since the maintained versions are more expensive than non-maintained one would assume you will need new lamp. I know in some of the places I have worked to reduce stock levels we only kept maintained on the shelf and just left out the switch wire if used in non-maintained locations or bridged it where a Sustained was required but your unlikely to find that to be the case.
