Hi,

I have been getting water in the bathrrom light fitting, which I can only assume is caused from the condensation being produced above the artificial ceiling. Would fitting an extractor fan resolve this problem or is there another way around this problem without tearing it all out?

Using IP65 fitting would help but really without looking at the problem hard to say. You may find there is a cold surface onto which the vapor is condensing and running into fitting may be you only need to move a pipe an inch or so.

Assumptions are very dangerous things in most situations - much more so where water and electricity are in close proximity.

You really should find out precisely where the water is coming from before considering any remedial action.
