Supplementary Earth Bonding

Hi Guys

Can you just confirm that after completing the 4mm supplementary earth bonding in my bathroom is it recommended or permissable to connect to the local earth on the connection plate of the electric shower.

The wall is chased out at present in preperation for plumbing to the shower and I could run it with the pipe.

The trouble with sites like these is that they give you great advice but there is so much info available (some of it conflicting) that you go on overload and get confused.

Thanks

Hi IMHO it is both recommended and allowed, to keep all circuit earths and other exposed conductive parts at same potential by what you suggest. What is not allowed is to connect local equipotential bonding conductors straight back to the consumer unit.
Of course after 1st July when new work must be to 17th ed. rules no cross bonding will be required at all if main services correctly bonded and all circuits are RCD protected (30mA), never simple a Leckies life!!!
