I need to temporarily disable an electric cooker switch/plug unit. I have a blank cover to attach, but what do I do with the wires?

Because of the problems with people drilling and nailing into wires they are not aware exist you are not allowed to get rid of a wiring indicator without removing cables. If you are removing the unit for a couple of weeks then OK but if for a long period you must mark where the wires are this could be just a blanking plate but you must not plaster over and hide.
As already said a connector block will keep the wires from touching each other and anything else on a temp basis.
