Close Board Fencing - Help?

by V6 Benny » Sun Jan 04, 2009 12:58 pm

DIY Doctor recommends 4x4" treated timber for the posts, can anyone recommend a suitable size timber for the horizontal rails? Also, would a 6' high fence require 2 or 3 rails and what spacing is best for the posts?

Any suggestions on where best to source the timber... I'm after c20-40mtrs?

Thanks in advance

You can use 3 x 2 inch timber for the rails which you should then post out at 2.4m (8ft) or, if you use 4 x 2 timber you can post out every3m. 2 rails should be enough for 6ft high if you set the top rail 18 inches down and the bottom rail 12 inches up from the ground
