making a picket fence

Good afternoon,

I am about to install a picket fence around the endge of my patio area.

I am going to use the post holders that are bolted to the floor to hold the posts.

I have 2 options that i am looking at:

buy premade picket fence panels and install them using the relevant posts.

affix 2 batons across the posts and build my own picket fence (I think i should be capable).

The questions that i have are:

Does the wood need to have had a certain type of treatment for outdoor use and which treatment should i use if more than one available.

should i use galvanised nails or is screwing better?

Thanks for your help

drazyc,
Use pre-made panels - you will not be able to buy the materials alone for the same price as a finished panel.
