Advice Needed on Bitumen Disater After Painting Timber Posts
Posted: Thu Jun 09, 2016 12:39 am
First would like to say I'm a first time poster and not in the building trade.
I built a retaining wall using 8" X 2" green treated timber in my back garden after getting the idea from a youtube video...
I have used the timbers as posts faving forward, screwed 2 high (one on top of the other horizontally) into the back of the posts and finished it with one aling the top like a bench.
I was adviced to use bitumen on the posts to prevent rot.... I have ended up painting around 20cm too high on 2 of the posts fronts....
I am looking for advice on removing the bitumen as much as possible to restore the timber look.
This is a right kick in the groin as I am laying turf next week.
Sorry I cant ad a picture as they are too big in size from my phone.
Thanks in advance,
Jordan
