Help! How to install fence toppers

I am adding a trellis on top on my fence to make it 2 metres for some added privacy but the fence poles are not long enough. I bought fence pole extension kits however my posts lay behind the fence not in-between the fence like the video shows. How can I attach the toppers? Any ideas?

Hi helengolds,
The first question is “ is the fence yours” - if the posts are on your side of the fence it may be owned by you but if they are behind the fence panels it may be owned by your neighbour.
Second question “are the posts at 6 foot centres” if yes you could face fix some lengths of 100x25 treated timbers where the posts are and fix the trellis to these.
