We live in a terraced house. We have a single story kitchen extension with a flat roof. We have rats in its cavity wall and also in between a ceiling and the flat roof. We do not know how they are accessing to the cavity wall! We had this problem last winter, had pest control in . They put poison down and had to deal with some serious stench. This winter they are back . I understand that we need to find the access hole which could be anywhere . Need a rat expert !! Please advice us and recommend someone if you know anyone who could help us with this problem.

geod,
Get the council back out - they will usually sort the problem for free when the problem is rats.
Find where the rats are getting in, don't confine yourselves to low level areas the are very good at climbing walls to get in high level holes.
