I'm having the whole roof done, had a quote and he suggested felt even though cheaper and less lifespan than fibreglass, he said because felt and fibreglass doesn't go together it can break as he has seen it a few times. He mentioned this because my flat roof and next door's are joined together - it was one terrace house split into 2 and theirs have felt.

Is this true about felt and fibreglass not going together?

You will not have much success bonding fibreglass and felt together to form a waterproof seal. Take the mans advice and stick with felt but ask for polyester reinforced (and make sure he uses it).
