Old Felt Roof Wood Battons

Summer last year I had my extension flat roof re-covered, changing from traditional felt layers to a single ply Danopol PVC layer.
All the work has generally been good, but when I cleaned out the gutters I noticed in some parts they had left the wood battons that held the old felt in place around the roofs edge.
The new PVC metal edging does partly cover these old battons but not completely.

I don't think there are any structural implications, but I wondered if there are any long term implications with the wood decaying and possibly interferring with the water flowing off the roof into the gutter or the wood rotting and bits dropping off or it coming into contact with the roof boards??
Opinions??
