Fibre glass roof

Hi All
Over the last couple of days I have had a roofer put a fibreglass roof on my house.I have seen a few houses with this job and they look great. The roof top itself is ok looking..........BUT on closer inspection the cladding all round is way off being secure and level. There are also a number of places where it is exposed direct to the weather.I have just looked and i have also realised he has put the glass fibre direct on the old felt, not removing the old roof surface at all.
Today, monday he has phoned to say he will be around to complete the top fibreglass coat and for me to pay him.

I am not a roofer or builder, but I can see a very sub standard job here. Can I tell him to go take a running jump,or take the whole roof off and start again.Where do I stand.
Any advice appreciated.

Hi. I know its a bit late to help you now and you may not want to know this but thats the condition I found a 4 year old fibreglass flat roof in when I bought this house. After a couple of years , well within its "guarantee" period it began to lak like a seive and every contractor that looked at it told me the same story. The installation was botched and no repairs could remedy that. I replaced it with a conventional pitched felt roof 3 years ago and so far so good

You are right, this seems like a VERY substand roof! I ve been roofing for ten years and specialise in fibreglass roofing and not once have i ever even thought about fibreglassing over old felt! This is totally wrong and I think u are well within your rights to refuse payment and make them remove what they have done and get a decent roofer to continue the works! The old felt must be removed and new boards laid down as so the fibreglass can adhere to them correctly!
