Hello

I need to replace my felt flat roof. Its a fairly small area on a kitchen extension.

I have had quotes from £300 for a bitumen roof to £1300 for a Sarnafil roof.

I think GRP or Sarnafil will be better quaility that bitumen - i am also aware of the need to have a 'warm roof'.

I was told by the Sarnafil rep that GRP can be compromised if moisture get in to the process and so it needs to be done on dry days. and that GRP is a carcenagenic material.

I am confused as to the best value for money and the environmental impact.

I would take a close look at the guarantees on offer from both Sarnafil and which ever GRP company you are looking at. You'll be surprised by what they actually cover and what you can claim for if something goes wrong! It may give you an idea which product you can have confidence in and ultimately give you piece of mind in what you install. Best place to get an idea on environmental impact is through BRE website and look for the BREAAM ratings. Think PVC membranes in general will provide A+ rating. (best you can get)
