I'm about to convert my existing basement into living area and want some advice on what flooring construction to use.
The existing floor is a decent concrete slab onto which I will be putting a membrane. I've been told I can either put my insulation straight on top of this followed by a timber floating floor, or insulate then apply a self leveling screed. Is this correct and what are the pro's/cons of each method? I've also noticed a huge number of different screeds, is there any in particular I should consider?
p.s. Head room in the basement is not an issue!
