Hi,

Im currently re-tiling my kitchen floor, and ive noticed a channel which has cracked going from the central heating across the floor to a radiator, it has been screeded/ concreted over but has cracked due to the heat from the pipes, so i have dug up the channel (2inch deep) to find 3 hot water pipes underneath. So my question is, before i put screed / concrete back in the channel what do i put over the pipes to stop this happening again.

thanks

Water Regulations 1999 - pipes should not be burried in screed. They should be in a channel with a cover, or if Polypipe be in a larger outer pipe to give expansion and easier access for replacement if necessary.

If it is copper, these pipes should be wrapped in Denzo tape (excuse spelling if wrong) as the screed can attack the copper.

I am not a plumber but I have found out that our builder has breached this regulation in our house!

Cheers
