Fitting a Finishing Strip Between Carpet And Tile

Hi all. I recently had a tiled floor fitted in my bathroom on a wooden floorboard surface. A layer of hardboard was fitted over the floorboards to enable the tiles to be laid. The problem i now have is there is a big difference in height between the tiled floor and the carpeted landing. Standard finishing strips wouldnt fit so i purchased a strip with a large lip on the tiled side. This fit ok with the only problem being a slight gap on the carpeted side. The strip was ok for a couple of weeks but has now been crushed out of shape from being stood on. Has anybody any ideas of how i can overcome this problem? Thank you.

manugray,
You could fit a stepped strip ontop of a flat strip so the the top one is supported over its width.

Get your fitter to tell you exactly which trim to buy. It sounds as though you have the wrong type.

BTW Ceramic tiles or vinyl? If ceramic plywood should have been used.
