Self leveling compound over grout on wood floor?

A bathroom floor (five years old) has become a problem.
The flooring was ceramic tiles on a thick layer of grout on MDF itself set on floorboards. Underfloor heating wire is set between the grout and the MDF.
The tiles started to come away from the grouting about a year ago. It got so ugly and loose we have now taken up the tiles leaving the grout.
The problem seems to be that the floorboards are uneven which made the brittle grouting crack.
My query is, would it be safe and advisable to use a self leveling compound on the remaining floor? Is the compound too brittle to cope with the movement of an old and uneven floor? We plan to replace the tiles with linoleum or some similar vinyl flooring.
Thanks in advance!
