Re/ Cardean problem, DAMP. Help, advice, information, answers and tips on all types of flooring from laminate and carpet to timber and vinyl

I recently posted a question about our cardean flooring which is lifting. Since then the shop that fitted it has taken a damp meter test over a couple of days the reading is 75 which we are told is an indication that damp is present.
Is this a very bad reading , what could be causing this damp and what do we do about it? The flooring is in our hall and its laid onto a latex screed on concrete, the latex is lifting from the concrete. Thanks.

Bad enough to be a worry and if the latex screed is lifting it is an indication that there may be no damp prooof membrane under the floor slab. You need to get a building surveyor to have a look at the extent of the problem.

Is the damp likely to be general slight damp only showing because of a lack of dampproofing or would it more likely be a leaking underground pipe perhaps in our driveway. The lifting where the latex has come away is only in a couple of areas about a foot sq.
