laying laminate

hi there,
i have a question and i probably sound really thick for asking it. i want to laminate a room and would prefer to remove the skirting rather than have beading, but i was wondering, when the skirting is re fitted, what if the laminate is thicker than the original gap left for carpet, thus forcing me to place the skirting higher than it was originally? as yet i haven't removed the carpet to see how much space there is between skirting and floor, but i just wanted to know if this is something that anyone has come across. i obviously dont want skirting higher in one room compared to the rest of the house, in which case i would have to settle for beading.
cheers if anyone can clear up the query

thomaswht2,
It will definitely be higher - trim a strip off the bottom of the removed skirtings to correct the levels.
