Hello from France.

Currently refurbing an 1830 house in France.

Basically we are looking to vamp up the ground floor throughout the house, which is currently 4 inch, perfect condition and flat ceramic tiles, by laying 8mm oak [finger design] 40cm parquet squares.

Apart from wood looking better, it will be in keeping with exposed beams etc and make it a lot warmer underfoot.

Does anyone have experience of this please? Unless told otherwise, i had intended to clean the ceramics with cleaning alcohol, and after drying, start spreading adhesive over the tiles, and positioning the parquet accordingly.

(intend dividing room into 4 quadrants and working centre outwards)
(finger parquet is small strips bonded 5 vertical, 5 horizontal and so on)

Your advice is most welcome
