I wish to lay ceramic floor tiles in a bathroom. However am I able to cut the tiles round the basin and toilet without the result looking unsightly or can I easily slip the tiles under the suite without having to replumb and realign the basin or toilet?

Not easily Johnny, no, but its possible to loosen the plumbing (after turning everything off) and lay tiles under basins and toilets providing there is enough play in the pipework. Generally speaking though, plumbing is pretty precise and when you consider the depth of the tile & adhesive its unlikely you will be able to do this without re-alignment of some pipes. Use a thick piece of cardboard as a template and trim it accurately round the obstacles. Then transfer this to the tiles which should give you a perfect cut. See our project on cutting ceramic tiles for tools you need.
