different levels/ laminate floors

I'm about to lay laminate flooring in two rooms, the snag i've got is the levels are different in each room, the difference being a layer of asphalt in one room over a concrete floor, and the other still being the original level floorboards. As the two rooms are connected by double doors I need advice on the best way to get around this problem. I know that special strips are available to cope with this, but i'd like to know of anyone having the same problem, and how it turned out for them by using these strips. I need reassurance.

Hi
The best way is to take up the ashphalt normally 30mm in depth then apply a screed system to same level as the other floor
