Can anyone advise me regarding my kitchen floor, it used to be a garage and I want to convert it to a kitchen BUT the floor is about 6 inches below the dpc, and to raise it would mean the floor being to high and needing two steps to get into, this would look silly as it is at the rear of a living area, is there any way a floor (wooden) could be installed below the dpc or can I treat the wall below the dpc to prevent damp affecting the new flooring

Peter horan,
Treat the area below the dpc where it adjoins the house with a few coats of bituminous paint and get this plastered. On the outer walls pin tyvek on the walls lapped outside the floor membrane and then dry line the walls on timber studding.
