HI folks,

I recently had a solid wooden floor put down in my dining room (3 strip oak) However it seems that the fllor is now uneven with humps appearing every 3 or 4 boards where they join.

What could be the reason for this and how could it be remedied?

hope someone can help thanks

richard

was there a gap left around the edges between the flooring and the walls ? wood will expand and shrink slightly depending on the heat, humidity etc of the room,

tight floor boards

hi thanks for the reply.

there was a gap left but evidently not enough. I removed the skirting board and in places the timber was tight to the wall. So obviously it had expanded so far and then couldn't go any further.

If i just cut 5-10mm off round by the edges will the floor level itself out again?

cheers
