We have recently exposed the brick on the chimney breast in the living room and used Cementone (Acidic cleaner) to clean the brick. It looks great. The problem that it has caused is that the floorboards were not adequately protected when we did this work and the Cementone has splashed onto the floorboards - we have now had a company in to sand, stain and lacquer the floorboards and the laquer is reacting badly on the floorboards where the Cementone has splashed. The rest of the floor looks perfect but, despite sanding the floorboards twice in the area where the lacquer had reacted, it still looks awful. You can see the splashes of the Cementone where the acid must've soaked down into the floorboards and it just looks unfinished rather than smooth and laquered like the rest of the floor.
Does anyone know of a solution to this? Can we get something that would neutralise the acid?
