by malcolm » Tue Aug 07, 2007 6:42 am

We have a ceramic tiled floor with underfloor heating. We want to put in a wood floor. Can we simnply lay the wood on the tiles or do we need to take out the tiles [lot of work].

check the surface of the floor

to assemble laminate flooring on the floor, should make sure that the floor is flat ,dry, smooth. If the surface of your ceramic tile is very rough, then it's not good for the flooring. besides, as wood flooring should be protected by damp proof material, usually lay under layment on the floor before assembling the wood flooring. so if the surface of your tile is smooth , then you can add a thicker foam layment , like 1.5-3.0mm thickness, which will protect the flooring be damped and also voice resisted.
