Damp proofing, Screed and Staining for Concrete Floors in Hallway

Plan to have stained concrete floors in hallway and under stairs. Current surface is concrete which has some paint and cracks. It is about a 10m squared area. Some areas get damp- had problems with previous wood floor buckling. Seems I need to do some damp proofing before laying a self levelling screed?
Current plan:
In the process of removing skirting boards then-
1-scabbling to remove paint and prepare floor
2- ?tanking slurry or epoxy layer
3-self levelling overlay
4-water based concrete stain
5-sealing
Does this sound sensible? Am I missing anything?
How do I know if tanking slurry and self levelling overlay will be compatible? My biggest issue is trying to choose the best materials- have already chosen a stain and seal. Would prefer quick drying/curing as trying to complete start to finish in 4-5 days. Top tips welcome.
Thanks!
