How to replace part of damaged solid wood floor

Hello,
I've recently had a solid oak wood floor laid on a concrete/tile base. The installers used an adhesive underlay beneath the wood flooring and it looked great. 10 days later some delivery men unwrapped some furnature and left a huge scratch over 2 of the slats.
The installers have tried to fill and wax the affected area but it still plainly visable. How can I remove some of these slats ? I'm being told that because the underlay is adhesive the whole floor is now a single entity so its a complete floor replacement job. Ouch !
is there another way ?
regards
Alan
