Seeking Advice on Strengthening Floor for Moving Bathroom
Posted: Mon Dec 11, 2017 2:32 pm
Hi all,
I am looking to move our bathroom from downstairs next to the kitchen :( upstairs into one of the unused spare bedroom. I know this will entail a lot of work and I am currently gathering information before putting together the plan!
My question for you is this: What is the best way to strengthen the floor joists in the proposed room. It is a smallish room 2.2m x 2.7m with the standard joist configuration for a typical 1930/40 construction. Could I just insert several noggins between the joists or is it better to double them up, especially around the bath area?
I thank you all in anticipation of your replies and suggestions.
