Laying Vinyl Plank Flooring Over Existing Laminate Floor

Hi hope someone can help.
I’ve laid vinyl plank flooring many times and I’m aware of the general rule that you shouldn’t lay it over a floating floor such as laminate. However I am considering doing this as the laminate I’m thinking of laying over is in pretty good nick. If this is really not advisable does anyone know if I laid hardwood and nailed it with long enough nails straight over the laminate would this then make it suitable or must I really rip it all up. It’s just the current laminate is fitted round the units and beading is nailed into the shifting so would be much easier to leave it as is.
