Finishing an old sanded floor

Hi all.

I have been refurbishing my old victorian house room by room for the last few years - it has been painstaking but worth it. I have finally got to the living/dining area and have decorated the living room - the last thing to do is the floor, which is 8" wide pine boards. The bedroom was sanded and varnished by a specialist but I want to retain the patina of the living room floor.
 Unfortunately there is a border of dark stain around the perimeter of the room whcih I plan to remove carefully with my recently purchased rotary sander. My question is would Danish Oil be the best way to bring out the beauty of the floor? I've heard of a beeswax/turpentine mix that is supposed to do the same job.

Any comments/advice very welcome.

Cheers
