Yorkshire stone kitchen floor advice

I would be grateful for some advice on the Yorkshire stone kitchen floor in the picture even if it is 'get rid'. We bought a house to renovate and have put a new kitchen in thinking that the stone floor we found could be lovely. We have tried absolutely everything we could think of - sealers, cleaners, etc - but nothing has worked. It also has in places bits of old grey paint - we don’t know what kind - that nothing we’ve tried will remove.
What’s the best course of action:
Professional restoration
Cover it with modern flooring
Get someone to turn over the stones
Paint it
Product we've not thought of
Something else?
The priority is price as we need to make some money on the house. The floor is a bit uneven which may rule out covering it up.
