Covering up some tired looking floor tiles

Hi forum people!

I have a tiled bathroom floor which is looking tired & grimmy. The walls were re-tiled a couple of years back and butt on top of the horrible floor tiles. There's also a new toilet which sits on top as well.

I plan to cover the tiles up with some vinyl. There are 3 options:

1. Remove the old tiles, accept the cost and replace the odd broken wall tile too.
2. Put some levelling compound on the floor, before putting the vinyl over the top.
3. Put a layer of thin plywood down first, then the vinyl.

Which option would you choose? Many thanks

Ok interesting. That might work. I would have to remove the mastic around the edges, but it is possible I think. Thanks.

Anyone else?

I too have some awful kitchen tiles in my kitchen and I see here it would be better to fill in the grout lines and then put a vinyl over it. The cowboy builders who built this house put in the kitchen first then tiled the floor so they only go up to the kick boards. I am going to be selling the house in the new year so I guess this is the best option to keep the costs down?
