Engineered Wood, is it really that good?

Hello,

I'm looking at installing Engineered wood in my house

I have a few samples and they do look really nice.

Now the price of this is pretty high and after speaking to a few flooring companies they told me that its hard waring, increases the value of your home etc.

Can someone with engineered wood let me know their experiences with it and if it's worth the money?

thanks!

Like everything you get what you pay for. With eng floor you need to ensure the veneer is as thick as possible. This is the hard wearing part and the thicker it is the better ... It also allows you to sand back the floor a few times to restore.

Eng floor is a multi directional laminate so it doesn't expand and contract as much as normal timber. This is a plus for installation as no need for expansion gaps

It has a nice feel compared to laminate which always feels and sounds cheap.
