Orange peel effect / bubbling of sealer

by gizmo » Tue Oct 30, 2007 9:54 am

Anyone know why a water based sealer (Granwax Aquathane) would form bubbles which dry in place in the sealer layer? It was applied by a professional floor layer but has happened twice and he can't explain it!

Two main options here
Firstly you have flash drying, if the room is too hot or there is direct sunlight the lacquer dries before it defoams.
Secondly modern lacquers have defoamers in them, these can be destroyed by time or over heating/cooling the product, check the product date and storage.
Try a different seal manufacturer Bona are the biggest
