I plan to lay engineered wooden glueless flooring accross two rooms. Each room is 3x4m square and there is a 2m wide archway in the wall separating the rooms.
Question can I lay the flooring from one room to the other through the archway without using a "Door Strip" in the archway to separate one side from the other?
I read something which said that you should not lay from one room to the other without a "Door Strip"? Does this apply to an archway with a 60cm wall either side of the archway. It would look nicer without the "Door Strip"
What's your views?

as long as it is all going same way and there is the obligatary expansion gap I don't see a problem, I've never heard the one about that there has to be a door strip, unless one room is subjected to excessive temperature rises as compared to the other, which doesn't sound like it will be!.

I`m a wood floor fitter by trade,
Engineered wood flooring is very stable in its nature and does not suffer the same expansion properties as a solid wood floor. If you were fitting through several doorways and the floor would meet/join itself in another area this could cause problems also if you had damp problems and no DPM fitted or if you were running more than 12 linear mtrs this could also cause problems. You will be OK as long as you read the manufacturers instructions and leave at least 10mm expansion at at all solid objects.. Remember your locking floor locks at an angle so think ahead when fitting under something eg. doorways that have been cut to make way for your wood to slide under..

As the cottage is 100 years old I think I will play safe and use DPM as well as the B&Q membrane.

Good move...quick-step combi floor underlay had DPM and taped seams built in and is easy to work with...just an option...
