a wooden floor shop has told us that central heating pipes (those coming out of standing radiators) must be at least 3cm below the concrete floor on which a wooden (not solid wood, but parquet) floor would be laid. Is this true? If so, does the same go for laminate flooring?

Also, wooden floor shopkeepers are always telling us that underfloor heating is not suitable for wooden floors, and shouldn't be used, despite the claims of underfloor heating suppliers. Is this true? If so, does this also apply to laminate flooring?

Underfloor heating is not really suitable for solid wood flooring but is fine with engineered wooden floors.

Laminate floors will also be fine with underfloor heating systems either water pipes or electric mats.
