Low floor level in kitchen

My kitchen floor currently has laminate on it and is about an inch and a half to two inches lower than the adjoining room (because this has a proper wooden floor with chipboard underneath). I want to know how to bring the level of my kitchen floor level up with suitable material that it can then be covered with ceramic floor tiles. Also all the the kitchen units are going to be taken out and replaced in a couple of weeks - should the replacement floor run wall to wall? Can anyone help?

Presumably the floor is concrete under the laminate Curly so take up the laminate a lay a floor screed of 4 sharp sand or flooring grit to 1 cement to bring the levels up to where you want them. Leave this for 10 days and lay tiles. We always lay tiles on the whole floor and then put the units etc in place.
