I need to replace part of a floor

by Limbury » Mon Apr 16, 2007 10:43 pm

I have just removed an old dumb waiter which ran from ground to first floor. The floor was not supported in any way by the lift. I need to patch the floor so that hole in the floor is removed. The area in question is two metres by about 1 metre. What is the best method and fixings to use. On two sides thgere is floor joists and on the other there are two plastered walls. Thanks

Fix a similar sized piece of joist to the plasterboard walls (See our project on fixing to plasterboard) then fix joists in between the timber surrounds. The floor is fixed to the joists. You may find it easier to hang the joists on joist hangers which can be found at the following link.
