how long for pine to age colour-wise?

hi,

just sanding our entrance hall floorboards ready to varnish. we have a suspended floor, with airbricks giving airflow through the void. so i've painstaking inserted fillets to stop the draught. used new pine and the floorboards are original to the 1920's house. they are in good nick but time has obviously discoloured them and the new pine fillets are a stark contrast.

i don't mind the effect but the wife does. any idea how long it will take the new pine to age a bit and blend in so i can present my argument and not cover with carpet? or is there something i can do to even up the colour, thought of using a stain but that would alter both the fillets and the boards so don't think that would work.

any advice appreciated!

thanks
