Hello,

This is my first post so be gentle with me lol.

Im building a 7 x 7m garage. I was doing a cavity wall and was advise to do the foundations 600mm wide and 800mm deep using an ST3 concrete. Im now doing a single block with piers. Can anyone suggest what width and depth foundation I should use, Im presuming it will be smaller.

Also how thick should my hardcore be for the oversite?

Thanks in advance

Karl

karl hurrell,
The depth and size of you foundations will depend on sub-soil conditions. If your garage is sited on made-up ground the foundations will need to be a lot wider and deeper when compared with those if you hit bedrock.
Hardcore depth will also depend on soil conditions - make sure the hardcore is well broken up and compacted.

Presumably your area BC are involved: if not ask them as they will know the relevant factors in your area
